What you can do to be more successful in patient care
Be ever mindful of the "Holes" in your head.
Dwell on good ground
Meditate in good depth
Keep good company
Speak in good faith
Rule with good policy
Serve with good competence
Act with good timing
Keep open the two holes on the side of your head. Keep closed the large one under your nose
Set your intention before seeing your next patient with no expectation for the outcome.
Live in the simplicity of uncertainty and wonder to what is to come next.
Say a simple mantra or prayer if you will before entering
Take a deep cleansing breath to set your ANS on para mode and oxygenate your PFC.
Enjoy the encounter
And give yourself and the other some love by:
Listening and not directing or leading.
Ask more questions and let them find some of their own answers and direction, with your support.
Always being there to help is our canon in health care. Without it we would be mindless, un rooted automatons unable to engage in free thought and at the mercy of institutions that would want greater control over who has say.
Great reflection article T! Thank you
